Our Town: Parthian Book Event with Lloyd Markham, Joshua Jones & Georgia Carys William – Neath Town Hall

Three acclaimed writers who draw heavily on their hometowns in their work. They discuss their relationship with their hometowns and how they represent home in their writng.

Lloyd Markham was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. He spent his childhood in Zimbabwe before moving to and settling in south Wales at the age of thirteen. His first novel Bad Ideas\Chemicals was shortlisted for Wales Book of the Year and won a Betty Trask award. He was awarded a bursary from Literature Wales to develop his second novel Fox Bites. He likes making and listening to strange music.

Joshua Jones is a queer, autistic writer and artist from Llanelli. His fiction and poetry have been published by Poetry Wales, Broken Sleep Books, Gutter and others. He is a Literature Wales Emerging Writer for 2023 and his short story collection Local Fires was nominated for the Dylan Thomas Prize.

Georgia Carys Williams lives in Swansea. Her short story collection Second-hand Rain was shortlisted for the Sabotage Short Story Award and longlisted for the Edge Hill Prize and the Frank O’Connor International Prize. Unspeakable Beauty is her debut novel.
